DESCRIPTION:
Small Arms - Remington New Model Army factory cartridge conversion Revolver, manufactured in 1865, 46. RF caliber, brass trigger guard with B proof marks, receiver with deeply notched V sight and B proof marks, cylinder stamped "PATENTED APRIL 3'D 1865," two piece ivory grips, 8 inch octagonal barrel with top roll stamped "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858, E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A, NEW - MODEL," all matching serial numbers down to the ivory grips, s#143448. The Remington New Model Army Revolver was issued to Federal cavalry regiments during the Civil War and stayed in active service until they were replaced by the Colt 1873 cavalry models in 1875.
Includes a green carry/storage case.
CONDITION:
Good action and timing; fine overall cosmetic condition, good bore with strong rifling, metal surfaces are a mottled gray patina with silvering at the high edges, spots of old light pitting, small dings and fine scratches are scattered about the revolver frame, numerous other dings on frame and barrel as well as scattered areas of oxide and pitting; brass trigger guard shows signs of polishing most notably on the inside; excellent ivory grips with light cracks forming around brass center pin.
